Job Kinyor (Born Kenya 8/5/90)
Kenyan Olympic Trials for the middle distance is as deadly as trying to make the team for the hurdles in the United States and so, it was wonderful that Job Kinyor was second in 1:43.94 in the Kenyan, Final Trial in Nairobi in June. The winner was David Rudisha 1:42.12..
Kinyor, also ran his best ever time of 1:43.76 earlier in the year at Doha.
At 22, he has made great strides, if you look at his record- 2008 1:47.0; 2009-----, 2010 1:45.86; 2011 1:45.07 and 2012 1:43.76 (To date).
In London In July, at Crystal Palace in the Grand Prix 800m, led by Osagie of the UK at one stage, before the sprint for the finish when Kinyor came 2nd. (First Four:- Adam Kszczot (Poland) 1:44.9; 2 Job Kinyor (Kenya) 1:44.60, 3 Andrew Osagie (GB) 1:45.21 and 4 Abukabar Kaki (Sudan) 1:46.05).
.Regarding the Kenyan Championships prior to that, when Rudisha won, he did not have such a good day at the office coming fourth " My tactics did not work well because I went very fast after Rudisha for 300m. Into the last 100m, when two guys caught me up they blocked me immediately so, when I tried to come outside it was too late. However Last year I remember my favourite race, when I felt good.I beat some very good runners including Yuriy Barzakovskiy in about 1:45.45."
Job concentrates on 800m rather than doing 400's or 1500's but he has a listed 1000m time of 2:17.43 to his credit.
Last year he was a medallist in the All-Africa Games in Mozambique in September. The first 3 were 1 Taoufik Makhloufi (Algeria) 1:46.32; 2 Boaz Lalang (Kenya) 1:46.40; 3 Job Kinyor (Kenya) 1:46.52)
How did it all start for him back in Kenya " It was in High School in 2008 I started seriously. It was after my school time then many people inspired me. My Father Barabbas Kinyor was a 400m hurdler; My Step-Mum Selina Kosgei won the Boston Marathon (In 2:32.6) in 2009 so, they inspired me. In 2009 I did not race abroad or had special times. I trained after my studies at College and I was employed but, the following year I had a new coach called Claudio from Italy and I trained with two other very good athletes that helped inspire me."
