Jacob Allen ran inside the Highgate Harriers club record of Ian Manners, who ran 5000m in 1992 in 13:57.84, with a time of 13:46.17 in the Classic at Milton Keynes on 9 July, but when he was at College in the USA in 2018 he ran even faster with 13:43.75, which is still his PB. Jacob also ran a personal best 10000m of 29:14.41 at the 'Night of 10000m PB’s’ at Parliament Hill on the 14th of May this year.
Another name to mention is Seyed Taha Ghafri, a Highgate Harrier from Kurdish western Iran. He has been awarded a scholarship to help him train towards selection for the Refugee Olympic Team for Paris 2024. Although he was plagued with an injury for some time last year, he won the London Cross Country Championships and broke all his track personal bests under the Highgate Harriers banner since he came to the UK.
