Running at the Highgate Harriers Open meeting, on the evening 17th of April, at Parliament Hill track, in cool conditions, tall Highgate Harrier Chris Rainsford, who was a Loughborough Student and belonged to his Father's running club, Heanor AC, has been running for Highgate Harriers for some years, particularly in Metropolitan League races. He is a good sports writer and a superb coach. Rainsford, who lives locally, showed how it was done by winning comfortably the top seeded 3000m race in 8:45.26. He won a Winter half marathon in a fast time of 67m.43sec. on the 21st of January and that prepared him for his Seville Marathon he ran 2hrs 18min. 56sec on the18th of February.
"To me it will be interesting to see several good Highgate runners doing the Lond0on Marathon on the 21st of April, particularly as I ran the first 19 consecutively "said HH Press sec Alastair Aitken.
Back to talking about some of the good results at the Highgate Open Meeting. There were quite a few personal bests, particularly in the Younger age groups. Under 15 year old Arjuna Pflug did a personal best 3000 in 9:19.57. An Under 17 Leoni Delvendahl ran 11:05.42 for her personal best for 3000. Under 17 runner Joseph Drinkell did a personal best 800 in 2:16.56. Under 20 runner Julia Alonso Gautrais ran 10:47.02 for 3rd place in her 3000. Talented Remy Weinbrecht, an Under 20' threw the discus 41:35 for a personal bes . Useful Highgate field events man Chris Button, a senior, did 1.85 for the high jump and Under 15 Elise Fenton ran 300 in 47.79 and well known field events man James Rossiter, now over 50, ran a PB of 49.12 for 300.
Senior Tim Kerr ran 10:19.61 for 3000 and .Under 17 runner Hans Austin did a PB pf 9:05..68 for 3000.
Under 15 year old  Arthur Shaw, jumped 1.60. In that same age group as Arthur, Idriss Mohammed jumped a PB of 1.40. 
Of the Highgate Harriers running in the Dulwich Podium 5k road races, on the afternoon of the 20th of April, their fastest two runners were for the men Chris Rainsford 14:44 and for the women Hannah Viner 16:41.
