Job Kinyor of Kenya (June 2014)

Job Kinyor (Born 8th of May 1990)
Job Kinyor, won the 'B' 800m in the Nike Prefontaine Classic in Eugene Oregon, at the end of May 2014. His time was 1:44.70. In second place was Elijah Greer (USA) 1:45.30 and third Eric Sowinski (USA) 1:45.60.

In 2013 Job Kinyor won the Kenyan National Championships in 1:44.9 and, his best time for that year of 1:44.24 achieved at Doha on the 10th of May. That placed him as 15th in the World Rankings for 2013.
Kinyor’s fastest time to date,(at the time of writing in June 2014), was 1:43.76.achieved at Doha on the 11th of May in 2012. (as a matter of interest Kinyor ran 1:47.0 in 2008; 2010 1:45.86; and 1:45.07 in 2011).
In July 2012 in the London Grand Prix at Crystal Palace, he ran 1:44.60, when coming second to Adam Kszczot of Poland (1:44.9). Andrew Osagie of GB was third in 1:45.21.
Kinyor considered the 800m was the distance he liked to run and train for, more than any other event. He has run 2:17.43 for 1000m at one time.

The Best Olympic Plans can go awry

Job Kinyor wanted very much to make the Olympic team for London but, like with so many very good two lap men, was unable to make his dream come true in 2012. He came FOURTH in the Olympic Trials won by Daniel Rudisha, who ran the fastest time ever achieved at altitude of 1:42.12 in Nairobi. Job Kinyor "My tactics did not work well because I went very fast after Rudisha for 300m. Into the last 100m, when two guys caught me up they blocked me immediately so, when I tried to come outside it was too late. However, I remember my favourite race when I felt good. It was a race when I beat some very good runners including Yuriy Bortzakovskiy in about 1:45.45".
Back In 2011 he was a medallist in the All African Games in Mozambique in September of that year. The first 3 were 1 Taoufik Mahloufi (Algeria) 1:46.32; 2 Boaz Lalang (Kenya) 1:46.40; 3 Job Kinyor (Kenya) 1:46.52.
How did it all start for Job Kinyor "It was at High school in 2008 I started seriously. It was after my school time then, many people inspired me. My Father Barnabas Kinyor was a 400m hurdler. My Step Mum Selina Kosgei won the Boston Marathon (in 2:32.6) in 2009 so, they inspired me. In 2009 I did not race abroad or had special times. I trained after my studies at college and I was employed but, the following year I had a new coach called Claudio from Italy and I trained with the two other very good athletes that helped inspire me."
