Night of the 10k PBs (May 2018) - part 4
Lorenzo Dini & Fionnuala Ross (May 2018)
Lorenzo Dini (Born 2/10/94) wiped out his personal best of 29:31.11 to do 28:30.01, to win the 'B' race at Parliament Hill Fields on the 19th of May.
Dini from Italy, said afterwards "I went into the lead at half way"
"My favourite type of racing is on the track and it will be the 10,000 from to-day!"
"I started out running at High school and since then my favourite result was coming 2nd in the European Junior Championships over 10,000 in Rieti in 2013."
His fastest times for 1500/5000 is 3:46.89/13:42.37.
The first 5 of 38 starters all did personal best times in the Night of the PB's. They were, Dini in 28:30.01; Andreas Voita (Austria) 28:33.99; Vasyl Voita Koval (UKR) 28:35.44; Kieran Clements (GBR) 28:37 12 and Felix Bour (France) 28:37.61.
Roxana Barca of Romania (Born 22/6/88) won the 'B' women's race 32:30.97 beating her best of 33:46; 2nd was Yiktoriya Kalyuzhna (UKR) in 33:10:66; and 3rd Valeriya Zinenko (UKR) 33:12.40.
In fact Ben Pochee, the organiser of the Night of PB's, must be pleased here, as the first 14 of 29 starters, did personal bests. For me it was interesting to see a Metropolitan league cross-country winner at Welwyn, Tamara Armoush of Jordon, who finished 12th in 34:00.81 in her first 10k race on the track.
Fionnuala Ross of Ireland, was 9th in 33:49.92 beating her best of 34:05
She won the cross c0untry, inter-district and club event, in the Great Edinburgh cross countries meting at the start of the year and, ran 76:53 in the World half-marathon Championships in March. She runs for Armagh in Ireland and Shettlestone when she is in Scotland
The season "Going well and I am really pleased with this year."
"I live in Glasgow but I am Irish. I work in Glasgow but run for Ireland. I came fifth in the Irish Cross country championships. I was 47th in the European cross."
When did she start running?
"When I was tiny. I liked to do it at school and my Dad John Ross used to run and he got me into it. I just kept going. I think cross-country is my favourite"
