Seyed Taha Ghafari won his first senior Championship race in 33:57 at the London Cross Country Championships on 20 November. For the first half of the London Championships he fought a battle with Ahmed Abdulle of Ilford A.C, before going clear. Of the 31 teams that closed in Highgate Harriers were second with their four to score with 54 points, behind Thames Valley Harriers who got 46 points. Third were Thames Hare & Hounds with 65 points. Highgate's other three scorers were: 11th, Peter Chambers 35:53; 18th, Charlie Haywood 36:24; and 24th Roger Poolman with 36:48. Highgate women were fifth out of 29 teams that closed in with 131 points. The winners were Belgrave Harriers with 55 points.
