In damp muddy conditions at Greenford, Hannah Viner, who was second in the Middlesex Cross Country Championships in 2017, was in great form winning well, out of 97 competitors. Hannah, a previous Met League winner and international on the road on the Continent. won the race in 32:26. Highgate's Yasmin Goater was fourth in 34:13, Karina Thornton was 23rd in 38:26; and Louise Faherty was 27th in 39:08 to complete the scoring team of four. Highgate took third place in the team competition with 55 points, the same number as London Heathside who were second. The winners were Trent Park with 44 points, from the 13 completed clubs. The other Highgate runners were Sabina Russell in 36th in 40:53, Ellen Kerr in 39th in 41:14, Natasha Cendrowicz in 47th in 43:14 and Joanna Gardner in 60th in 45:37.
Regarding the men, only one of their 'Star' runners was in action, which will not be the case in the Metropolitan League races. The winner out of 146 finishers was Shaftesbury's Dylan Evans in 43:54 but not far behind was Highgate's Alex Lepretre in 44:19. Daniel Brewer ran well for 35th in 52:14; 51st was Alex Davidson in 53:23; and also well in the first 100 were Christopher Wright in 61st (55:28) and Joseph Lowe in 77th (57:47). The Highgate team placed 6th.
