On Saturday, over a surprisingly dry course after the rain, except for the brook to negotiate at Hillingdon House Farm, and in cold conditions, Highgate Harriers senior men were still out ahead in the Fitness First Metropolitan League, despite having to score a little further down the field this time than in the first two league matches. The points at the top now read; first Highgate Harriers 'A' 4286; second Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets 4004 and third London Heathside 3407. Highgate's twelve great men were, in first position, Alex Leprêtre 24:41 who went ahead early on and was only really challenged by Oscar Bell of Herts Phoenix for half the race. The other Highgate men were ninth Pete Chambers 26:00; 11 Robel Bahelbi 26:04; 16 Robert Wilson 26:33; 28 Charlie Haywood 27:11; 38 Lewis Greaves 27:37; 42 Dominic Smith 27:44; 43 Chris Hicks 27:45; 45 Henry Murdock 27:50; 57 Adam Horne 28:25; 61 Sam Bradshaw 28:30; 62 David Shepherd 28:32. 371 runners finished.
London Heathside lead the women's senior table with 1007 with Victoria Park & Tower Hamlets on 909 and Thames Valley third with 771. Highgate Harriers runners out of 161 completing were 28 Emily Young 34:12; 37 Sabina Russell, the first over 55 in the race, 34:37; 57 Nici Audhlam-Gardiner (2nd W50) 35:58 and 63 Alice Steele 36:24.
Highgate cross country champion for the Under 17's women’s race Lauren Russell had another good win in 14:39 out of 55 runners. Liam Bailey came 6th of 82 in the Under 17's men's race in 13:19, Alex Pettican, a 10 year old boy, was 9th out of 48 in the first race of the day for Under 11's, finishing in 7:35.
