Highgate came 2nd, in one of the most gruelling 20 'staggered' stage road races in the UK. It  was called the Welsh Castles Relay,

The  relay race meant each day, each runner, had a stage to do', adding up to 10 stages on the Saturday, followed by 10 stages on the Sunday. . That was over a total distance of  209 miles in total length, for the 20 stages  over the undulating countryside in Wales.

It all started on the Saturday in Caenarfon Castle  and ended on the 2nd day's 10 stages, at Cardiff Castle.

The first 3 of the many teams were 1  Kent AC 19:36.44; 2HIGHGATE HARRIERS 20:19.24 and 3rd Pontyprid Rodents 20:20.39.
