In the 'Bottomists' cross-country race, starting at Parliament Hill Fields and then over Hampstead Heath;18 runners took part at 11'0'clock in the morning, straight after the Christmas festivities on Boxing Day'
The event, started over 50 years ago by Ted Fosbrook a coach and runner for Highgate Harriers, whose daughter Deborah Laing organised the event this year, with a couple of her sons running in the race too.
Over some muddy patches but also, some firm ground Arjuna Pflug, a 'talented' under 15 runner was the first home in 18:09 and followed by Under 17 runner Woody Nicole (18.23); 3rd was Peter Laing (18:30) 4th Sonny Allen (19:50); 5th Stanley Harrison (19:51, an ex-Middlesex junior 800 Champion); and 6th John Driscoll.
