Running round Battersea Park, in a two lap 10k road race, in the ''Friday Night Under the Lights' event, on the 12th of April and in Race One, with 50 competitors, Highgate's Terry Fawden was 5th in 30min 39sec and Rob Wilson 7th in 30:58. They were both in the team that came 3rd in the National road relay the previous Saturday. Amongst the others for Highgate Harriers to run quickly, inside 32minutes for the course, were Charlie Cooper 31:18; David Lewis 31:51. A leading Highgate woman Rebecca Johnson ran the course in 33:59.
