Mathew Bernardi ran 16:47.91 in the BMC 5000m race at New Eltham, on the 19th of June, won by l popular local man Tom Butler of Shaftesbury Barnet, who ran a swift 14:15.12. Tom was the 3rd Senior prize winner in the recent Metropolitan League cross-countries.. One of Highgate Harriers best runners back in the 1950's past was the late Mike Marlow, the coach and. they have named a BMC event after him called the Mic Marlow Memorial BMC race on the 19th of June.
On Thursday the 20th of June, sadly, Kathy Howard died. She was a 'Great' strength in supporting her husband Martin Howard, who has been one the most hard working Highgate Harrier's Officials in the club for over 60 years. and, also at Nat National level too
In the Upper age group for young runners at the Youth Development League( South). After two matches Woodford Green & Essex Ladies lead into the last one,in the Track & Field event.
Out of 10 clubs they had 16 League points. Highgate & London Heathside team were in 4th place with 11 league points.
It was noted two fast Highgate times were done in BMC races and they were Harvey Weinberger 1:54.58 & Nicole Edmunds who ran 4:42.91 for 1500 on the 4th of June
