ANDREW PENNEY, was pleased to win his first big cross-Country, over the grass land Hampstead Heath course, in good conditions. Alastair Aitken reports. Penney considered himself to be a road and track runner with a 5k track time of 14’flat. Tall. Penney looked impressive, as he worked his way into the lead at the end of the penultimate lap and then went clear.

Penney recalled “ I did have a break after the track season and did cross training. Regarding the milage I have been doing 60 to 70 and trying to pick it up”

LUCY JONES, after her win in the Women’s London “ I felt good and strong and was relaxed for the first lap, with my clubmate Sofie..When I went to the front in the second lap, I tried to push it on. She said how she liked her club set up under Geoff Jerewood at Herne Hill. .

Which race set her up for an athletics life? “ Winning the English National for under 15’s on the 23rd of February 2013 but I did have 5 or 6 years slump but feel I am coming back now”
