Hertfordshire and Middlesex combined for their cross championships at Trent Park on the 4th of January.
That made it an exciting senior race in the cold, with Brett Rushman, who won the first Met League race in October coming home first 33:25 for Hertfordshire and his clubmate Oscar Bell 2nd in 33;46.
In 5th place came the current Middlesex Champion, Terry Fawden  winning the Middlesex Championship, that he had previously won last year. His time was 33:58. Sean Renfer of Highgate was 5th Middlesex in 36:01.
Two Highgate women ran well in the senior women's race. Karina Thornton was  was 12th in 31:55 and Louise Faherty (W45) 20th in 33:23. BUT the outstanding run was by previous Middlesex Highgate Champion Hannah Viner, who won well in 28:16 ahead of the 2nd runner who did 28:44. 
Highgate had several team wins in the younger age groups that included the Under 20's Felix Kent (2nd), Alex Mulvihill and Wirem Nichol. and the Under 17s with Harry Austin (who came home first), Nicholas Taylor and Joseph Drinkell; 
The Under 15's Arjuna Pflug won 13:09 and Arin Sinko Uribo was 9th in 14:51.
Anna Murray was 4th in the  Under 11's and Holly O'Shea 17th
