Fixture 5 @ Brent Lodge- 1st March 2025

This was the 5th & final Juniors XC race & brought a close to the 60th season of The North West London Young Athletes Cross Country League at Brent Lodge Park, London (also known as Bunny Park). A big shout out to Brian Fowler, who has been running this event for the 60 years it’s been going.

The sun was fortunately shining and there were some inspiring performances by our young harriers to end the cross country season.

While the league results will be revealed in Part 2 next week we would like to celebrate all our club champions who gave their all at this final fixture with the race doubling up as the Club Championships.

Under 11‘s

5 Boys and 4 girls ran strong to finish on a high .

U11 Boys : Rupert Carefull, Owen Lewis, James Mainwood, Alex Fuzesi, Geva Heiman

U11 Girls : Anna Murray, Holly O’Shea, Florence Phillips, Sofiyah Sharaz

It was remarkable to have consistent turn out from Florence Phillips (5 fixtures) , Holly O’Shea (3) and Anna Murray (every race since she joined the club in November) while amongst U11 Boys Alex Fuzesi raced all 5 fixtures, Rupert Carefull, Owen Lewis, James Mainwood, Geva Heiman and Adam Said represented HH consistently in 4 of the fixtures. A big shout out for U11B Owen Lewis who despite a recent broken elbow raised his Mum’s heart rate as he fell at the start and ran like a warrior.

U13 Girls

Carys Tomlinson led the girls, followed by Ines Gaddo, Ira Agrawal & Scarlett Duquesne Correra. Ira Agrawal represented HH at all the 5 fixtures followed by Carys Tomlinson in 4 which again reflects a strong participation.

U13 Boys

Alex Pettican led the pack, closely followed by Jack Cobbold, Robert Mainwood, Javier Shepherd. Harry Coleman and Bowie Pak completed the team (Bowie’s 2nd race for the Harriers). It was remarkable to have Jack Cobbold and Robert Mainwood present at all 5 fixtures closely followed by Alex Pettican, Javier Shepherd representing in 4 fixtures.

U15 Girls

Club champion U15G is Olive O’Shea. At this point it’s worth mentioning parents Denis & Maggie - their support has been unflinching and Club salutes their dedication & support travelling from Hertsmere every Tuesday to training & for all meets with Holly, Olive and Denis.

U15 Boys

It was an incredible race with Luke Tomlinson leading the pack followed by Aron Sinko-Uribe, Zain Broachi & Nathan Anderson. Hats off to Zain Broachi in representing HH in all 5 fixtures with Luke & Aron present in 4 of the 5 fixtures.

U17 Boys & Girls

In the U17M Joe Drinkell claimed the club title which closed a 5 / 5 season for him. Denis O’Shea and Wenbo Du, also both regular competitors (4 races) followed in. Leoni Delvendahl headed home the entire U17W field with Josie Luis and Eloise Lindley in pursuit.

Huge thanks to Kate Pettican for trophy co-ordination & to Kate Silverston and Julie Cobbold as always for help with numbers and team declarations at this and all XC events. And a thank you to Brenda Myers who was present to give the awards.

Cross country running as all know requires strength, determination and toughness to compete. All our runners embraced the mud..the dirt…and with grit gave their all even though the footing was atrocious and literally were one with mud.. Thank you to all runners who have gone above and beyond sporting the HH colours …

Look out for the next report for the Clubs standing and Individual winners in the North West London League.

Enjoy the photos.
