After highlighting all our club champions and runners up last week, here are more details about how our athletes fared in the League itself—both as individuals with their best scores over 4 taken into account and Highgate Harriers team positions.

U17 Women WIN

Our U17 women swept up plenty of individual prizes—2nd, 3rd and 4th for Josie Luis, Eloise Lindley and Lizzie Wortsman. And unsurprisingly, with those individual results, they successfully defended the U17 Women’s team title. Leoni Delvendahl deserves special mention as she competed in all 5 races and won 2 of them, but had breathing problems in 2 of them and was unable to finish.

U15 Boys WIN

The U15 boys was a small but well-drilled squad. Luke Tomlinson, who secured a silver individual league medal, was supported in every race by Zain Broachi and Aron Sinko Uribe. New to the club this year, Nathan Anderson was quickly making his mark on the team, and 3 race wins by Arjuna Pflug in the first part of the season came in handy.

U13 Boys WIN

Alexander Pettican claimed a silver individual medal and Jack Cobbold an individual bronze. Jack competed every race this season. He ran a blinder at the first one—6th place, followed by solid results culminating in a well-deserved 3rd place at the final fixture. The U13 boys' team looks strong for the year with so many 1st year U13s packing well—Robert Mainwood, Javier Shepherd, Alex Edis, Bowie Pak, Harry Coleman, all showing great form.

News on our other age groups. The U11 boys' team came 3rd—promising as most of the squad will still be in that age group next season. The backbone of the U11 girls has talented athletes including Anna Murray, Florence Phillips and Holly O’Shea, but needed more athletes out on a regular basis to make their mark as a team. A similar situation with the U13 and U15 girls. Sonny Allen had 2 race wins in U15s, and Ira Agrawal and Carys Tomlinson were Highgate Harriers’ reliable stalwarts in the U13s. In U17 Men, Joseph Drinkell has raced solidly through the season and was rewarded with an individual league medal. Wenbo Dun and Denis O’Shea have had good seasons too.

Amongst the many highlights of the season was watching Carys Tomlinson make big improvements. At her first outing, she finished 19th, improved to 11th and was 3rd in the last two races. Alexander Pettican was also progressing at every outing—7th at the opening then finishing with two 2nd places in the New Year.

Big thank you to all the coaches involved for their part in these performances—James, Manish, Chris, Errol, Sarah, Julie, Kathrin, Hannah & Chris and to all the helpers on race day!
